Grants and Schemes

Government Grants and Schemes for Electric Vans

Electric vans are subject to a 0% Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) rate until 2025, allowing both employers and employees to save on Tax and National Insurance. This favorable BIK rate is a key incentive for fleet operators and businesses.

In 2024, there are several grants and schemes available to help businesses invest in electric vehicles:

1. Plug-In Van Grant (PIVG)

The Plug-In Van Grant covers up to 35% of the purchase price of an electric van, with a maximum saving of £5,000 per vehicle. To qualify, vans must have emissions of 50g/km or less and a fully electric range of at least 60 miles.

2. Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)

The Workplace Charging Scheme helps businesses install electric vehicle charge points at their premises. The grant covers up to 75% of the installation costs, capped at £350 per charging socket, with up to 40 sockets per business. This makes it easier and more cost-effective to provide charging infrastructure for your fleet.

3. EV Infrastructure Grant

Small and medium-sized businesses can apply for grants to cover up to £15,000 of the cost of installing EV infrastructure. This includes up to £500 per parking space and £350 per charge point socket, helping you future-proof your fleet as EV adoption grows.
