Case Study: MEV – Bespoke Caged Dropside Electric Vehicle Build

My Electric Vehicle (MEV) is a leading designer, manufacturer, and distributor of 100% electric vehicles. With a global reach and a commitment to real-world functionality and sustainability, MEV required a custom build that would support their operational use and demonstrate the flexibility of their EV range.

The Objective

MEV approached CPD for a bespoke conversion to be used for light operational tasks and urban deliveries – suitable for industries such as utilities, parks, aviation, campus logistics, and facilities management. The brief was to develop a caged dropside solution that would maintain the vehicle's compact, road-ready form while maximising usable load space and safety.

The CPD Solution

Working closely with the MEV team, CPD designed and manufactured a bespoke caged dropside body tailored to the vehicle’s electric chassis. This included:

•    Lightweight yet durable cage structure
•    Side and rear access for ease of loading/unloading
•    A clean, professional finish that complements MEV’s brand
•    Full compatibility with MEV’s charging and operational systems

The conversion was built with long-term use in mind, ensuring durability without compromising on efficiency or weight – key for electric vehicle performance.

The Result

The finished build supports MEV’s mission to offer electric vehicles that are fit for purpose, environmentally conscious, and operationally versatile. The vehicle is now in service and highlights the adaptability of both the MEV platform and CPD’s in-house manufacturing capabilities.
